Panty liners- A necessity or luxury?

Panty liners- A necessity or luxury?

You may have stumbled upon panty liners online or in the menstrual hygiene products aisle at the super market. Ever wondered what they are and how are they different from a sanitary napkin? Here’s everything you need to know.

What is a panty liner?

A panty liner looks very similar to a regular sanitary pad. The only difference is that it is much thinner and smaller in size. (We call it a low-key version of a pad!) They provide a plethora of uses, such as:

 Absorbingvaginal discharge

Vaginal discharge is completely normal. It is your vagina’s way to clean itself and prevent infections. On some days, your body may produce more discharge and panty liners can help combat this!

Collecting light menstrual blood/ spotting.

On the lighter days of your period, we recommend you to switch to panty liners. However, do not use panty liners on the heavier days of your period.

If you are using a tampon for the first time.

When inserted correctly, tampons do not cause leakage. However, it is recommended to use panty liners if you are inserting them for the first time as a precautionary measure.

If you are working out.

Do you have sports practice or PT at school? No worries! Wear a panty liner to keep your private parts fresh and clean. It is important to avoid sweat build-up in our genital area to avoid infections.

How to wear a panty liner correctly?

-This one’s very simple! All you need to do is to place them inside your underwear, with the adhesive strip attached to the bottom. This will make sure the panty liner is kept in place.

Change your panty liner frequently.

-As they are meant to only absorb light spotting, they need to be changed every 3-4 hours. Avoid over-using them.

Avoid using panty liners at night.

-It’s important to let our vaginal area breathe properly at night to avoid trapping moisture.

Avoid using panty liners during heavy periods.

Leave this to your tampons! Panty liners are not meant to collect excessive amounts of blood.

Now that you are equipped with all the knowledge about panty liners, are they a necessity? We say- it is! However, every person’s body is built differently. While some girls may experience a heavier discharge that causes discomfort, others don’t. Hence, every girl needs to understand how their body functions, to know what it needs.

While buying an intimate hygiene product, it is important to make an informed decision. If you feel like you need to use a panty liner, then take the next step and try it! We recommend that you try organic, cotton panty liners as they are more healthy and sustainable! You can also check out our teen tampons that are also made out of biodegradable ingredients; hence, making it completely safe to use!
